Custom Cornea

CUSTOMCORNEA® (With LASIK and LASEK) involves capturing the subtle imperfections of the cornea to create a 3-dimenstional map that is unique to the eye, tailoring a distinct correction for each individual. The map is then used to guide the laser in order to customize your treatment. This means that rather than treating you for myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, the surgeon can treat your individual visual irregularities. Hence, CUSTOMCORNEA treatment possesses the ability to improve not only how much you can see, but also the overall quality of your vision.

Before the CustomVue LASIK treatment is programmed into the laser, several measurements are taken by the WaveScan System. The WaveScan system is a tabletop diagnostic system that measures your eyes with specialized cameras. You will sit infront of the WaveScan System and look at a light through an opening in the system while it scans your eye. More than one measurement is taken and then the surgeon would choose the most appropriate measurement to use as the basis for the CustomVue LASIK treatment.

CustomVue LASIK treatment for high myopia can correct from -6 to -11 diopters (D) of nearsightedness with up to -3 diopters of astigmatism. If you have nearsightedness with this range, CustomVue LASIK treatment may help you to see clearly distant objects without eyesglasses or contact lenses.
