Intralase

INTRALASE® (Femtosecond Laser) provides an all laser approach to creating a corneal flap during laser vision correction surgery. IntraLase replaces the hand-held microkeratome blade with a silent, computer-guided laser. This less invasive, computer controlled approach allows the physician to achieve more precise construction of a corneal flap prior to excimer laser treatment.

Advantages of the Intralase Method:

  • More people achieve vision that is 20/20 or better.
  • The procedure is 100% blade free
  • All intra-operative mechanical microkeratome-induced flap complications are eliminated
  • It allows the doctor to tailor-make your corneal flap based on what’s best for your eye-something that is not possible with a blade.
  • In a survey of LASIK patients, the vision in the Intralase-treated eye was preferred for up to 3-to-1 over the vision in the blade-treated eye (among those who stated a preference).
  • Patients with certain types of corneas who were not previously eligible for LASIK using a blade may now be eligible using the Intralase Method.
